Each year everyone is trying to predict which marketing trend will stick throughout the year and which ones are over. The world of marketing has become more complex than ever and simple tips and tricks are just not doing it anymore. But don’t worry because I am here today to tell you all about which marketing trends you should be paying attention to in 2022 (and no I am not going to talk about voice search).

Metaverse

If you have the feeling that everyone is talking about the Metaverse, you are right! We are witnessing the emergence of a virtual world made of multiple technologies, some of which are Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, three-dimensional avatars and videos that will be transforming our lives the following years. It is still in the early stages of its life but numerous companies have already jumped on the wagon, so maybe it is high time you considered getting on that wagon yourself.

Zero & First-Party Data

Third-party data was the preferable source of data for most marketers, but since privacy concerns are growing a lot of companies are shifting towards zero and first-party data strategy where they can collect, store and use their own data. Zero-party data is provided by the users themselves while first-party data is the collection of data by the company through their own channels.

Audio Content

Audio Content isn’t something new but that doesn’t mean that it has stopped growing. The hours US consumers had spend listening to podcasts in 2021 was 25% up from 2020.[1] It is a long-form type of content that can help you increase brand awareness and connect with your audience. So, if you aren’t yet producing audio content you should think about including it in your content strategy this year.

Video Marketing

Videos -especially short-videos- are here to stay. TikTok, Instagram reels and YouTube Shorts have gained a lot of popularity and it is not a mystery why since they can grab your attention, can get you to engage with them and can easily connect with the person talking. Plus, the algorithms seem to favor that type of content so if you want your business to succeed in 2022, pick up your phone and start practicing.

Influencer Marketing

Influencers are expected to grow up to a 15 billion dollar industry by the end of 2022[2]. Brands are able to recognize that content creators can become trusted ambassadors for their brands seeing that they are individuals people can rely on and follow. Micro-influencers have gained a lot of popularity in the past years therefore you should consider allocating a portion of your budget to influencer marketing in 2022.

These were some of the main marketing trends that we will be seeing in 2022. Which ones are you going to use? If you aren’t sure how to implement them to fit your needs you can contact me to help you reach your goals in 2022.
